Friday was supposed to be a shining moment for Elon Musk, but all eyes were on the shiner he was sporting thanks to his 5-year-old son.
The billionaire appeared next to President Donald Trump for a press conference in the Oval Office to mark his last day as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
According to The Hill, the bruise on Musk’s right eye is thanks to a punch delivered by his son while they were “horsing around.”
“I was just horsing around with little X and I said, ‘Go ahead, punch me in the face.’ And he did. Turns out even a 5-year-old punching you in the face actually is —,” Musk said.
“That was X that did that? X could do it. If you knew X, he could do it, Trump replied.
“But, I didn’t really feel much at the time, and then I guess it bruises up. But I was just horsing around with the kid,” Musk added.
“I didn’t notice, actually,” Trump said.
The black eye was not the only thing discussed at the press conference. Musk also spoke about the longevity of DOGE.
“This is not the end of DOGE,” he said, per Fox News. “Only the beginning.”
“I expect to continue to provide advice whenever the president would like advice. I expect to remain a friend and adviser, and if there’s anything the president wants me to do, I’m at his service,” Musk said, according to CNN.
Trump also gave Musk a golden key to the White House.
