A celebration of life took place Sunday to honor Naomi Judd.

The memorial was broadcast on CMT and hosted at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, “where mom wanted her public celebration to take place,” according to Naomi Judd’s daughter, Ashley Judd, per the NY Post.

Thousands of fans, friends, and family members were in attendance including Naomi Judd’s husband, Larry Strickland, and celebrities such as Oprah and Reese Witherspoon, according to News Channel 5.

Ashley Judd revealed on “Good Morning America” that she was the one who found her mother, who died on April 30th from suicide.

She gave a eulogy and referred to her mother as an “every woman, but totally extraordinary” and with a life like a “spectacular technicolor dream,” according to the NY Post.

When we are going through mourning God is our comforter.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”

Wynonna Judd, Naomi Judd’s daughter, also spoke at the memorial and expressed her grief saying, “Tonight is a celebration, and at the same time I can’t put into words how devastated I am. I miss her so much.”

She performed an emotional rendition of “River of Time,” which was a song she sang with her mother.

Naomi and Wynonna Judd were a successful music duo called, “The Judds” and Wynonna Judd announced during the memorial that she would continue touring despite her mother’s death.

“After a lot of thought, I’m going to have to honor her and do this tour. I’m just going to have to. Tonight, as we close, the show must go on, as hard as it may be. And we will show up together and you will carry me,” she said, according to the NY Post.
