Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominated President Donald Trump to receive the Israel Prize.
The Israel Prize is Israel’s highest cultural honor, per NewsNation.
“I’ve submitted your nomination to be the first non-Israeli recipient of the Israel Prize,” Netanyahu said Monday as he and Trump addressed the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
“As to that other prize, it’s just a question of time. You’ll get it,” he added, referring to the Nobel Peace Prize.

Monday was an historic day as the last living hostages held by Hamas were released to Israel.
In turn, Israel prepared to release about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners thanks to a ceasefire agreement regarding the war in Gaza.

Trump was supported in his quest for the prize by many world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
After the winner was announced, Machado said she was dedicating her win to Trump as well as to to the people of Venezuela. She lauded Trump for supporting of her cause.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio was one of the people who nominated Machado for the honor last year when he was a senator from Florida.
The White House — and others — expressed its disappointment over Trump not receiving the award.
“The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace,” White House communications director Steven Cheung posted on X.
According to The Hill, Jan. 31 was the deadline to submit nominations.
