Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is urging President Donald Trump to impose a broad travel ban on countries she says are sending dangerous individuals into the United States.

According to Fox News, Noem announced her recommendation Monday in a sharply worded post on X, saying she had just met with President Trump and delivered her proposal directly.

“I just met with the President. I am recommending a full travel ban on every d— country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies,” Noem wrote.

She accused certain immigrant groups of threatening public safety and draining resources intended for American citizens.

“Our forefathers built this nation on blood, sweat, and the unyielding love of freedom—not for foreign invaders to slaughter our heroes, suck dry our hard-earned tax dollars, or snatch the benefits owed to AMERICANS,” she said. “WE DON’T WANT THEM. NOT ONE.”

The announcement followed an attack last Wednesday in Washington, D.C., in which an Afghan immigrant allegedly assaulted two National Guard members just blocks from the White House.

Authorities identified the suspect as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the United States legally in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome. The Biden administration created the program to relocate Afghan allies after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban.

Noem argued that Lakanwal’s arrest highlights what she called systemic failures in the vetting of refugees and other foreign nationals during President Joe Biden’s term. She blamed the prior administration for allowing individuals into the country without what she considers proper screening.

The Homeland Security chief said the incident underscored the need for tougher restrictions and signaled that additional recommendations may follow.

Her comments sparked immediate debate online, as supporters praised the call for aggressive action while critics accused her of targeting entire populations based on isolated crimes.
