Pelosi previously signaled that this will be her last time running for speaker.

House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) congratulated Pelosi on Twitter shortly after her win.

“Congratulations to the Speaker of the House for the 117th Congress, my good friend, [Speaker Pelosi]. I look forward to serving beside you as we continue working to make America’s greatness accessible and affordable for all,” Clyburn wrote.

Newsom said, “Congratulations to a fierce fighter for the people. CA is proud to call you Speaker once again, [Speaker Pelosi]!”

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) recognized Pelosi for her leadership and predicted she would be able to lead Americans through challenges facing the nation.

“[Speaker Pelosi] led us through the last four dark years with great intellect, sharp tactics, and, of course, her huge heart. As we confront COVID-19, climate change, healthcare and inequality, our Caucus trusts in her leadership,” Schiff wrote.

He continued, “Congrats, Madam Speaker! The work continues.”

Pelosi’s reelection comes just days before Congress is expected to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory.

She wrote a letter to her Democratic colleagues on Sunday to remind them Wednesday is “fraught with meaning,” as IJR previously reported.

Pelosi told her colleagues, “On Monday, we will have a clearer picture of how many state votes will be subject to an objection.”

She continued, “Our choice is not to use the forum to debate the presidency of Donald Trump. While there is no doubt as to the outcome of the Biden-Harris presidency, our further success is to convince more of the American people to trust in our democratic system.”
