House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says she does not pay attention to President Donald Trump’s tweets about her.

During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Pelosi was asked to respond to a series of tweets Trump sent attacking her for her leadership of House Democrats during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Frankly, I don’t pay that much attention to the president’s tweets against me. As I’ve said, he’s a poor leader. He’s always trying to avoid responsibility, and assign blame,” she said.

Pelosi continued to call for lawmakers to approve more funds for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) as well as more funds for hospitals and first responders.

Congress adjourned last week after lawmakers were unable to strike a deal on a bill to replenish the PPP — the program designed to give small businesses loans to pay their employees.

The PPP ran out of funds on Thursday morning, and Senate Republicans were pushing for a bill that would have allocated another $250 billion to the program.

However, Congressional Democrats are pushing for a bill that replenishes the PPP as well as provides extra funding to hospitals and first responders.

But as it became clear that there was not a deal in sight, the Senate adjourned without trying to approve a PPP replenishment bill.

Trump blasted Democrats for holding up the bill earlier in the week. He tweeted, “They are killing American small businesses. Stop playing politics Dems! Support Refilling PPP NOW – it is out of funds!”

Pelosi’s comments come as she and Trump have spent the week trading barbs over the government’s handling of the coronavirus, as IJR has previously reported.
