Politico is facing accusations it is trying to cover for Vice President Kamala Harris’ past positions amid her current run for president.

On Monday, CNN’s Andy Kaczynski shared a screen shot a Politico article with a headline that read, “Harris campaign pledges she won’t ban fracking after Trump accusation.”

“This is a bizarre framing — it’s not an accusation or allegation. She said it on record numerous times in 2019,” Kaczynski.

He added, “The news is that she just recently changed her position publicly.”

The screen shot featured an excerpt that said former President Donald Trump made “allegations” the vice president supports banning fracking.

Several users criticized the framing:

He’s not wrong.
There are scores of print stories of Harris in her own words saying she’d ban fracking

The framing is unfair and wrong, but there's nothing "bizarre" about it. It's expected coming from a media that is acting as an arm of her campaign. https://t.co/jPYiXxpN23

Meanwhile, one user shared a video from Harris’ failed presidential bid in which she explicitly stated she is in favor of banning fracking:

The headline has since been updated to exclude the portion about a “Trump accusation.”

Meanwhile, the excerpt states, “Kamala Harris’ shift on fracking comes after GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump raised her 2019 stance calling for banning the oil and gas drilling technique.”
