A poll found only 28% of Americans believe President Joe Biden should run again in 2024.

According to an Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, just 48% of Democrats say the same.

The poll also shows more Americans disapprove than approve of Biden’s job performance. Fifty-six disapprove, while 43% approve.

The outlet noted the numbers are a “stark reversal from early in Biden’s presidency.”

The report continues, “In July, 59% of Americans said they approved of Biden’s job performance in an AP-NORC poll. His approval rating dipped to 50% by late September in the aftermath of the chaotic and bloody U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan and amid surging coronavirus infections and the administration’s fitful efforts to push economic, infrastructure and tax policies through Congress.”

Additionally, The Associated Press explained the poll shows that “Americans’ confidence in Biden’s handling of the pandemic — seen as a strength early in his administration — has further eroded as the omicron variant strains the health care system and further exhausts an American electorate that had hoped life would be back to a semblance of normalcy by now.”

During his Wednesday night press conference, Biden was asked about the poll numbers.

A reporter asked Biden, “How do you plan to win back moderates and independents who cast a ballot for you in 2020 but, polls indicate, aren’t happy with the way you’re doing your job now?”

He replied, “I don’t believe the polls.”

During an interview with CBS News, Vice President Kamala Harris shared her response to low poll numbers.

“Polls go up and down, but we have to remain consistent in fighting for the American people and their needs,” Harris said.

A CBS News poll shows Harris’ approval rating is the same as the president’s, standing at 44%.
