Americans appear to be united against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, according to a poll.
A Yahoo News/YouGov poll found 74% of Americans believe Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is “not justified” compared to only 6% who say it was.
Seventy-six percent hold an “unfavorable opinion” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. More supporters of former President Donald Trump hold an unfavorable view of President Joe Biden than Putin.
Eighty-seven percent of Trump voters hold a “very” unfavorable opinion of Biden while only 60% say the same about Putin.
The poll noted weeks ago Americans were more likely to believe the U.S. should stay neutral than side with Ukraine. Today, 57% of Americans want the U.S. to side with Ukraine compared to 25% who want the U.S. to stay out of it.
The poll was conducted from February 24 to 27 and surveyed 1,532 Americans.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that Russian strikes tore through the center of Ukraine’s second-largest city and other civilian targets.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the targeted attack on Kharkiv’s main square was “frank, undisguised terror.”
He added, “Nobody will forgive. Nobody will forget. … This is state terrorism of the Russian Federation.”
Zelenskyy later pleaded with the European Parliament to treat Ukraine as an equal member of Europe.
“We are fighting for our rights, for our freedoms, for life. And now we are fighting for survival. This is the highest of our motivation, but we are fighting also to be equal members of Europe,” Zelenskyy said.
He continued, “We have proven our strength. We have proven that, at a minimum, we are exactly the same as you are, so do prove that you are with us. Do prove that you will not let us go. Do prove that you indeed are Europeans. And then, life will win over death, and light will win over darkness.”
