President Donald Trump is putting Iran on notice — and backing it up with firepower.

Speaking aboard Air Force One on Thursday after departing the World International Forum in Davos, Trump revealed that a “massive fleet” of U.S. naval power is heading toward Iran as tensions escalate over Tehran’s deadly crackdown on protestors.

“We have an armada. We have a massive fleet heading in that direction, and maybe we won’t have to use it,” Trump told reporters. But the message was crystal clear: the U.S. is watching, and it’s ready.

At the center of the deployment is the USS Abraham Lincoln — a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier carrying more than 90 aircraft, supported by a fleet of guided-missile destroyers and other warships. U.S. officials confirmed to Reuters that the carrier strike group is en route and expected to arrive in the region in the coming days.

Trump’s statement comes as Iran reels from its most widespread protests in years, triggered by economic turmoil and skyrocketing inflation. But the unrest has evolved into a broader revolt against the regime. Activists say more than 4,500 demonstrators have been killed, while Iranian authorities claim the number is 3,117 — a staggering death toll either way.

“We have a lot of ships going that direction just in case.”

The Institute for the Study of War called the crackdown the “deadliest in Iran’s modern history,” and warned the regime is trying to downplay the scale of its actions even as blood continues to spill in the streets.

Trump, however, isn’t buying the silence — and he’s not staying quiet. “We’re watching them very closely,” he said. “I’d rather not see anything happen, but we’re watching.”

The buildup comes alongside reports that the U.S. is preparing to deploy additional air defense systems to safeguard American forces in the region. And while Trump reiterated he’s open to negotiation — even saying, “Iran does want to talk, and we’ll talk” — he also threatened 25 percent tariffs on any country that continues trading with Tehran.

It’s a two-pronged approach: diplomatic on the surface, but with serious military muscle lurking just off the coast. Whether Iran takes the bait or backs down remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure — the U.S. isn’t bluffing.
