Oh now they want to talk about accountability.
After years of pretending James Comey was some sort of trench-coated patriot straight out of a political thriller — standing nobly in the shadows, defending democracy from the orange menace — the media suddenly seems… interested in whether the former FBI Director might have lied under oath. Imagine that.
Yes, the same James Comey who couldn’t seem to recall half of anything when grilled by Congress, the same guy who leaked memos to spark a special counsel investigation against President Trump, is now facing a potential criminal indictment for perjury. And wouldn’t you know it — the timing just happens to land smack on top of the statute of limitations. Almost like someone’s been sitting on this until the very last second.
Here’s James Comey lying under oath.

Sources told MSNBC (which, let’s be honest, only reports stories like this when they absolutely have to) that the Justice Department is preparing to move forward. Apparently, the feds are eyeing Comey’s 2020 congressional testimony — specifically his statements about the now thoroughly debunked Russia probe. You know, the one that cost taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, wasted years of media oxygen, and never produced a single charge related to Trump-Russia collusion.

But here’s the real kicker: they’re only just now getting around to this?
It’s been five years. Five years since Comey sat on Capitol Hill and delivered what critics have long said was a carefully crafted pile of evasions, half-truths, and flat-out lies. Five years since the American people were told to trust the intelligence community while shadowy operatives pushed a phony dossier and launched a federal investigation based on bar gossip and anonymous sources.
And now, at the 11th hour, we’re supposed to believe justice is finally — finally — knocking?
Let’s not pretend this is some heroic stand by the Justice Department. This feels less like a principled move and more like a desperate attempt to toss a bone to critics as the curtain drops. Because once that five-year statute of limitations is up? That door slams shut, permanently. And they know it.
Meanwhile, CNN dragged out former U.S. Attorney Michael Moore to spin this as Trump revenge — a political vendetta dressed up as justice. His defense? That indicting someone is easy. Like, “indict a ham sandwich” easy. In other words, even if Comey is charged, don’t worry, it doesn’t really mean anything.
Cute. But let’s reverse the roles for a second.
What if this were a former Trump official? What if Mike Pompeo or Bill Barr were facing perjury charges over faulty congressional testimony? The media would be camped outside their homes. There would be dramatic music scores on MSNBC. The word “indictment” would scroll across your screen with the gravity of a terrorist attack. But when it’s James Comey? Well, don’t get too excited, folks — it’s probably just a technicality.
That’s the game. Always has been.
James Comey was never supposed to be the fall guy. He was the golden boy of the anti-Trump resistance. Book deals. Late-night appearances. Emotional tweets with Bible verses. This is the guy who literally tweeted a photo of himself standing among trees with captions like he was a modern-day Obi-Wan Kenobi. And the media ate it up.

But the mask is slipping. Slowly. Sloppily. And maybe — just maybe — someone’s going to be forced to answer for what happened in 2016, and again in 2020.
So here we are. The DOJ dragging its feet toward a possible Comey indictment. Cable networks nervously hedging their bets. And Americans — especially those on the right — wondering if this is real justice, or just a stunt to quiet criticism before the clock runs out.
Either way, this story isn’t over. Not by a long shot.
