The answer to the question of who caused the death of actor Matthew Perry will soon be decided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The investigation centers around who gave Perry the ketamine before his death on Oct. 28, 2023, at the age of 54, ABC News reported.

As the investigation comes to a close the U.S. Attorney’s Office will if anybody is charged, senior Los Angeles Police Department sources told ABC News.

If the U.S. attorney decides not to file federal charges, the case could be referred back to state prosecutors.

The investigation has been in motion since Perry’s death. The investigation includes the LAPD, Drug Enforcement Administration, USPS and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

USPS’s part in the investigation may indicate drugs or payments were sent by mail.

Actress Brooke Mueller, who is also Charlie Sheen‘s ex-wife, has been questioned “multiple” times by cops regarding the criminal investigation into Perry‘s death, In Touch exclusively confirmed.

“She’s hired lawyers and has had multiple meetings with law enforcement since they arrived at her sober living house with a search warrant. She’s being tight-lipped about the situation,” an insider said.

“It’s tough to say or know exactly what her role is [in Matthew’s death], but she’s adamant she had nothing to do with that,” per the insider.

Perry was discovered unresponsive in his jacuzzi. He died from the acute effects of ketamine, the autopsy revealed, per ABC News.

Contributing factors included drowning, coronary artery disease and buprenorphine effects, per the autopsy.

The manner of death was ruled an accident.

Authorities believe Perry, who had high levels of ketamine in his blood, lapsed into unconsciousness and then went under water, according to the autopsy.

Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit sitcom “Friends.”
