The White House is welcoming U.S. National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien back after he has made a full recovery from the coronavirus.

National Security Council spokesman John Ullyot released a statement confirming O’Brien’s return.

“The National Security Advisor has already met with the President, who warmly welcomed him back to the West Wing. He has been cleared by doctors after two negative tests for the virus, and has been asymptomatic for over a week,” Ullyot said.

He added, “His return to duties at the White House is consistent with CDC guidelines and White House Medical Unit advice.”

The White House confirmed in a statement on July 27 O’Brien tested positive for the coronavirus, as IJR previously reported.

He had been self-isolating and working remotely.

The statement noted there is “no risk of exposure” to President Donald Trump or Vice President Mike Pence.

Others have tested positive for the coronavirus within the White House including a U.S. Navy member, who is one of the president’s personal valet, and Pence’s press secretary Katie Miller.

The United States is continuing to try and combat the coronavirus as it spreads across the nation.

Trump argued the coronavirus is “receding” during his coronavirus press briefing on Monday, as IJR previously reported.

According to Trump, the number of positive coronavirus cases has declined by almost 6 percent from the week prior and the number of positive tests has declined from 8.7 percent to 8 percent over one week.

While some states have seen a decline in the number of infections, others are seeing an uptick.

Trump explained the government will now have to focus on states, including Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Missouri. He is predicting these states will be able to slow the spread quickly.

Despite a rise in the number of coronavirus cases in some states, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany confirmed during her briefing on Tuesday the president is “not considering” a nationwide lockdown.
