Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) faced angry Trump supporters in both the Salt Lake City airport and on a plane for his refusal to support the president in his efforts to overturn the election, videos on social media show.
While he was sitting in an airport on Tuesday, Romney was approached by a woman who began sparring with him after telling her to put her mask on.
“Don’t tell me what to do,” the woman said..
Romney replied, “Please put your mask on, it’s required by law in this airport.”
She agreed to put her mask on so she could speak with him.
The woman asked Romney, “Why aren’t you supporting President Trump?”
Romney answered, “I do agree with many of the things he is for, and I support those things.”

She pressed him on if he would support Trump in overturning the election.
“It’s a long story, but we have a Constitution, the Constitution process is clear, I will follow the Constitution, and I will explain all that when we meet in Congress this week,” Romney explained.
The woman continued to heckle Romney as he walked away from her.
“You’re a joke, absolute joke. It’s disgusting shame,” she said.
His confrontation with angry Trump supporters did not end there.
Romney was met with “traitor” chants during his flight.

Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah took to Twitter to defend Romney.
“Don’t know who needs to hear this but harassing [Mitt Romney] and calling him a traitor is beneath us as a country. Disagree fervently – do it respectfully. Btw – his wife has MS, put on your damn mask,” Farah wrote.

Romney has been vocal about his opposition to Trump’s efforts to overturn the election.
During a CNN interview last month, Romney said Trump’s attempts to take back the election are “going nowhere,” as IJR previously reported.
He added at the time, “But it’s really sad in a lot of respects and embarrassing because the president could right now be writing the last chapter of this administration with a victory lap with regards to the vaccine.”
Romney also slammed lawmakers who considered challenge the Electoral College vote, as IJR previously reported.
He called it “madness.”
