The Secret Service reportedly intervened in a bizarre case involving President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, his daughter-in-law Hallie Biden, and a missing gun.

Politico reported on Thursday Hallie Biden took Hunter Biden’s gun behind a grocery store and threw it in a trash can on Oct. 23, 2018. She returned to retrieve the gun later on, but it was gone.

Law enforcement officials and a copy of the police report obtained by the publication show the Delaware police began investigating the situation out of concern someone could use the gun in a crime.

According to two people, Secret Service agents asked the owner of the store where Hunter Biden bought the gun to give them paperwork regarding the transaction.

The owner, Ron Palmieri, would not hand over the paperwork, the people said. He later gave it to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

However, Politico reports, “The Secret Service says it has no record of its agents investigating the incident, and Joe Biden, who was not under protection at the time, said through a spokesperson he has no knowledge of any Secret Service involvement.”

Days after the incident, one man who searches through the grocery store’s trash can often returned the gun.

No one was charged or arrested as a result of the case.

Politico was able to obtain copies of the transaction and receipt for the gun which was purchased in October of 2018.

Hunter Biden reportedly answered “no” to a question asking, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”

In 2013, the president’s son was discharged from the Navy Reserve after testing positive for cocaine.

It is a felony to lie on the form. Hunter Biden was involved in a romantic relationship with Hallie Biden at the time. Hallie Biden was the widow of his brother Beau who died in 2015.

An officer asked him if he had been doing drugs or drinking heavily. Hunter Biden replied, “Listen, it isn’t like that. I think she believes I was gonna kill myself.”

A spokesman for the Secret Service said, “U.S. Secret Service records confirm that the agency did not provide protection to any member of the Biden family in 2018, and that the Secret Service had no involvement in this alleged incident.”

A White House spokesperson claimed the president had no knowledge of the agency’s involvement in the incident, “President Biden did not have any knowledge of, or involvement in, the Secret Service’s alleged role in this incident, and neither he nor any family member was a protectee at that time.”

Neither Hallie Biden nor a lawyer for Hunter Biden, George Mesires, have commented on the incident, according to Politico.
