House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) does not believe it is necessary to continue to discuss the sexual assault allegation made against former Vice President Joe Biden (D).

MSNBC’s Ari Melber asked Pelosi on Tuesday if she viewed the matter as a “closed issue.”

“Well it is for me,” Pelosi said. “I have said I am proud to support Joe Biden for president. I believe him when he says it didn’t happen.”

Watch her comments below:

Pelosi doubled down on her support of Biden, reiterating she is not willing to address this issue again.

“I’m not going to answer this question again. I will just say I have every confidence that Joe Biden will be a great president of the United States,” Pelosi said.

Biden publicly denied the allegation made by Tara Reade, a former staffer while Biden was a senator, as IJR previously reported. She alleged Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993.

Biden responded to the allegation in a statement he released on Friday, “They aren’t true. This never happened.”

Pelosi came to Biden’s defense during an interview Thursday after she was pressed on the issue, as IJR previously reported.

“I do support Joe Biden. I’m satisfied with how he has responded,” Pelosi said.

She added, “I know him, I was proud to endorse him on Monday, very proud to endorse him, and so I’m satisfied with that.”

Pelosi claimed there was “never any record” of the allegation and “nobody ever came forward or nobody came forward to say something.”

She noted Biden’s positions on health care and job security as reasons she believes he would make a great president.

Pelosi closed her remarks explaining how she thinks Biden’s values and vision are right for America.

“Joe Biden is Joe. And again, he brings those values and his personal experience to a vision for America that is about fairness,” Pelosi said.
