SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly called out The New York Times on Tuesday during her show for attempting to make readers sympathize with President Joe Biden and “rich fucking spoiled brat” Hunter Biden after it was announced he would be pardoned.

The NYT released a report Monday detailing the lead-up to Biden announcing his decision to pardon his son, despite him and his staff repeatedly denying that the president would follow through with the action. On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the SiriusXM host read a portion of the article, highlighting how The NYT portrayed Hunter as a “troubled son, a recovering addict, who he felt had been subjected to years of public pain.”

“Millions of people have this in their family where somebody you know and love got swept up into the opioid crisis. That wasn’t Hunter’s thing. I mean, he was a crack cocaine, whatever, but my sister actually legitimately got caught up in the opioid crisis by a doctor telling her this thing was not going to be addictive, then it was,” Kelly said.

“[She] really never righted the ship again, and she died two years ago at age 58. It makes me so angry because she had no advantages like this. She did not have a presidential connection, nor did my place in the public sphere or my financial resources save her,” Kelly added. “She didn’t have the connection she needed because there was some petty anti-crime that she got involved in, basically like a shoplifting thing. My point is it wasn’t like a massive bank robbery, but once you have that on your record, you’re effed.”

In June, Hunter was convicted on three felony gun charges after being accused of knowing he possessed a Colt Cobra revolver while addicted to drugs in October 2018 and making false statements on his purchase form.

Kelly went on to describe how her sister, despite becoming clean from her addiction, couldn’t find a job due to a record of petty crime. Kelly then called out Hunter’s privilege for helping him avoid consequences for his own record over the years.

“She couldn’t get a job even when she got clean and sober, which she had been for many, many years by the time she passed. She could never get a job once it’s on your record, and they want us to feel sorry for this rich, spoiled fucking brat, Hunter Biden,” Kelly said. “Who’s had an entire life of privilege as the son of a senator, the son of a sitting vice president, the son of a president who had every advantage in the book and squandered them all after exploiting them to the detriment of our country with his dad’s hand guiding the ship.”

“Now we’re supposed to feel sorry for these two? Well, I don’t at all. The New York Times doesn’t get it,” Kelly said. “Like shut up! No one in the country who’s sitting in jail or whose kid is about to go to jail for a gun charge or tax evasion or drugs gives two shits about your problems.”

In Biden’s statement explaining why he chose to pardon Hunter, the president claimed that any “reasonable” person would conclude from Hunter’s case that he was “singled out” because he is the president’s son.

“There has been an effort to break Hunter — who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me — and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough,” Biden wrote.
