German authorities arrested a Danish national suspected of surveilling Jewish targets on Iran’s behalf for possible terrorist attacks, the country’s prosecutors office said Tuesday.

Ali G., a pseudonym for the alleged spy, allegedly spied on three separate sites in June at the behest of Iranian intelligence, according to Reuters. Iran formally entered a ceasefire with Israel on June 23 after an extensive bombing campaign from Tel Aviv and Washington appeared to cripple Tehran’s nuclear facilities, but fears remain that Iran’s extensive global espionage network could instigate reprisal attacks against civilians in the West.

Ali G. is currently being held in Denmark, and Germany is seeking his extradition, according to Reuters. The suspect allegedly received his orders from Iranian intelligence in early 2025.

The suspect allegedly surveilled a building where the president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany is known to frequent, as well as the outside of the German-Israeli Society headquarters, according to Reuters. German Chancellor Frederich Merz said in June that Germany was ready for any attacks from Iranian assets targeting its citizens, particularly any antisemitic attacks.

In the U.S., the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reportedly reassigned the agents over concerns that Iran may activate sleeper cells in the U.S. as reprisal for President Donald Trump’s bombing of Iran’s nuclear sites. Moreover, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a memo June 22 warning of a “heightened threat environment” in light of the strikes against Tehran, specifically warning of “antisemitic hate crimes.”

Iranian assets are suspected of having attempted or plotted attacks against enemies of the regime on American soil in the past.

Most recently in 2024, suspected Iranian asset Farhad Shakeri was arrested in connection to an alleged plot to surveil and murder an Iranian dissident with U.S. citizenship, as well as potentially targeting President Donald Trump. The same year, Iranian Intelligence operative Majid Dastjani Farahani was suspected by law enforcement of trying to target former Trump administration officials, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The German government did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment.
