A New Year’s Day stay at a luxury San Francisco hotel ended in tragedy with the sudden death of Victoria Jones, the daughter of acclaimed actor Tommy Lee Jones.
According to the New York Post, Jones, 34, was found unresponsive early Thursday morning at the Fairmont San Francisco, according to multiple reports.
Authorities were called to the hotel around 3:14 a.m. after a medical emergency was reported, the San Francisco Police Department confirmed.
When first responders arrived, they found a woman later identified by sources as Jones. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
The San Francisco Fire Department said bystanders had been instructed to begin CPR before emergency crews arrived, but those efforts were unsuccessful.
Jones was the daughter of the “The Fugitive” star and his first wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office will investigate the cause of death. No additional details about the circumstances surrounding her death have been released.
Jones had some experience in the entertainment industry at a young age. She appeared alongside her father in “Men in Black II” and later had a role on the television series “One Tree Hill.”
She also appeared in the 2005 film “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” which was directed by and starred her father, according to her IMDb profile. After her early acting work, she largely remained out of the public spotlight.
In recent months, however, Jones had multiple encounters with law enforcement. Records obtained by The Post show she was arrested at least three times earlier this year in California.
In April, Jones was arrested in Napa County on charges that included obstructing a peace officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance, and possession of a narcotic controlled substance, according to court documents.
The following month, she was arrested in Santa Cruz County. In June, she was taken into custody again on charges of domestic battery and domestic violence or elder abuse. She was later released on bail in that case.
Court records indicate Jones pleaded not guilty to the charges filed out of Santa Cruz County.
As of Thursday, officials had not released any information linking her prior legal troubles to her death. Representatives for the San Francisco Medical Examiner and for Tommy Lee Jones did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The investigation into Jones’ death remains ongoing.
