Former President Donald Trump suggests President Joe Biden has to debate early in the year because his health and mental state are “not going to get any better.”
During an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, the Biden campaign’s proposal for presidential debates came up.
“You know, he’s issuing it. I wonder or not he shows,” Trump said. “Because, you know, he also challenged me to golf. I’m a very good golfer. He can’t hit a ball fifty yards… but he knows he’ll never play. This is sort of like that, I think.”
However, he added, “But I hope not, cause I really think he has to debate. He might as well get it over with. Probably should do it early… he’s not going to get any better. Every day is a down-factor for him.”

The interview comes as Biden’s campaign offered a series of proposals for the presidential debates, such as holding two debates before voting begins.
One debate would be in June, and the other would be in early-September, according to the Biden proposal.
Shortly after the details of the proposal were released, Trump told Fox News Digital, “The proposed June and early September dates are fully acceptable to me.”
And shortly later, Biden posted on X that he had received an offer from CNN to host the first debate on June 27.
