CNBC’s Jim Cramer apologized after calling the House speaker “crazy Nancy” during his interview with her, but President Donald Trump is rebuking the apology.

Cramer apologized after his “very stupid comment” that “fell completely flat,” as he worded it.

“It was a tongue in cheek attempt to make a point about the harsh tone of the negotiations in Washington, but it fell completely flat,” Cramer said on “Mad Money” Tuesday afternoon. “I apologize for that. As I said immediately after the comment, I want to make it clear that I have an incredible amount of respect for both the speaker and, of course, the office she holds.”

However, in response, Trump wrote on Wednesday, “Jim, you didn’t make a mistake.

“It’s true, and that’s why you said it,” he added. “No pandering!”

Cramer was questioning House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) about a coronavirus relief package when he referred to her as “crazy Nancy” during Tuesday’s segment of “Squawk on the Street,” as IJR reported.

“What deal can we have, Crazy Nancy?” the host said before quickly adding, “I’m sorry, that was the president. I have such reverence for the office.”

CRAMER: What deal can we have, crazy Nancy — I’m sorry, that was the president, I have such reverence for the office, I would never use that term, but it is hard isn’t it?

PELOSI: But you just did.

CRAMER: Oh, come on, you know what I mean.

When he said he would never use those terms, Pelosi responded, “But you just did,” before they both agreed they knew what he meant.

The House speaker later said during the interview, “Let me just say this, anything the President says is a projection of his own insecurities. He calls other people crazy because he knows he is. He complains about this, that and the other thing because he knows his own shortcomings.”

“He’s a master of projection, so any time he says something, you say, ‘Uh-oh, that’s what he’s thinking of himself,'” she added.

Pelosi and Trump have not spoken face-to-face in nearly a year since Oct. 16, 2019.
