Former President Donald Trump is tossing his support behind former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in her run for Arkansas governor.
Trump called Sanders a “warrior who will always fight for the people of Arkansas and do what is right, not what is politically correct,” in a statement on Monday.
He added, “Sarah is strong on Borders, tough on Crime, and fully supports the Second Amendment and our great law enforcement officers. She loves our Military and Veterans — and her home state of Arkansas.”
Trump continued:
“Sarah will be a GREAT Governor, and she has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

“My opponents will do everything in their power to destroy me, but I will not apologize for who I am, for who I’m fighting for. I’m fighting for you. I will not retreat, I will not surrender and I will not bow down to the radical left,” Sanders said in a video announcement Monday.

Sanders’ father, Mike Huckabee, who is a former Governor of Arkansas, weighed in on the announcement, tweeting, “She’s running to be 1st woman Governor of AR. But it’s not about her gender, but a lifetime of preparation. She’s smart [and] compassionate, but fearless for what’s right.”
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also expressed his support for the former White House press secretary, writing on Twitter, “Take it from a Kansan — she will do Arkansans a good turn!”
