Concerns are reportedly mounting within President Donald Trump’s inner circle following the recent arrest of Tiger Woods, particularly when it comes to the safety of family members.
A source familiar with the situation told the New York Post that relatives are uneasy about the golf legend being around the president’s grandchildren after the DUI incident in Jupiter Island, Florida.
“There would be concern if their kids weren’t being protected by Secret Service,” the insider said.
The issue centers in part on Woods’ relationship with Vanessa Trump, who shares five children with Donald Trump Jr. Their children range in age from 18-year-old Kai to 11-year-old Chloe Sophia Trump.
According to the source, federal agents assigned to protect the family are closely monitoring the situation.
The agents are “certainly not letting Tiger Woods – even without the DUI” drive the kids, the source said.
Members of the president’s immediate family receive around-the-clock protection from the United States Secret Service, with coverage expected to continue for months beyond the end of his term in 2029.
Those agents are trained and armed, and are prohibited from drinking on duty or engaging in behavior that could put those under their protection at risk.
President Trump addressed Woods’ situation briefly while speaking to reporters after arriving in Miami for the Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit.
“I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person, amazing man. But some difficulty,” Trump said.
Woods’ recent arrest has also drawn renewed attention to his past. In 2017, he was arrested after being found unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle, appearing glassy-eyed in a police mugshot.
Sources told The Post that Vanessa Trump and her daughter Kai were not present at the time of the latest crash.
Following the incident, Woods reportedly passed a breathalyzer test but refused to provide a urine sample.
Police said he appeared to be under the influence of “some type of medication or drug.”
