President Donald Trump has issued an executive order on local and state preparedness.
According to Reuters, the executive order was issued Wednesday for state and local preparedness for natural disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires and cyber-attacks.
In the executive order, it details how the Trump administration is taking steps to ensure Americans are prepared during these events.
“The Order enables state and local governments to better understand, plan for, and address the needs of their citizens by reducing the complexity of federal preparedness and response policies,” the order reads.
The order continues, “It also launches a National Resilience Strategy that articulates the priorities, means, and ways to advance the resilience of the nation.”
It goes on to say that the order calls for the review of all infrastructure, continuity, and preparedness policies to modernize federal approaches and aligning them with the National Resilience Strategy.
“President Trump knows that Americans need fast, effective help when crises hit—not delays or excuses,” the order states. “This Executive Order delivers on President Trump’s commitment to shift power from Washington to the American people.”
