Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) is continuing to come under fire from former President Donald Trump.

Trump is expected to meet with a potential challenger to Cheney on Thursday, according to Politico.

As the publication reports, “Trump is poised to sit down with Harriet Hageman, a Republican trial attorney who waged an unsuccessful 2018 campaign for governor of Wyoming, according to five people familiar with the matter.”

It was previously reported that Trump was sizing up potential primary challengers. He is reportedly deciding who he will endorse during the 2022 midterm election.

As Politico reports, Trump “has met with several candidates in recent weeks at his Bedminster, N.J. golf club, with an eye toward making an eventual endorsement.”

According to the publication, Hageman was part of Cheney’s leadership team during her 2014 Senate campaign and has contributed to Cheney twice.

Cheney has been critical of Trump and supported his impeachment earlier this year. She was also appointed to a select committee to investigate the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6.

In May, Cheney was ousted from her leadership position. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) then was elected the new No. 3 House Republican.

Trump previously called Cheney “a bitter, horrible human being,” and added in his statement, “I look forward to soon watching her as a Paid Contributor on CNN or MSDNC!”

The Casper Star-Tribune reported this week that Republicans in two Wyoming counties no longer recognize Cheney as a member of the Republican Party after they voted to rescind recognition.

After being purged from her leadership post, Cheney was asked if she would leave the Republican Party. She told NBC News’s Savannah Guthrie in May, “I’m not leaving the party.”
