Share

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) is the new No. 3 House Republican, replacing Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) who was purged from her leadership position this week.

In a closed-door election, Stefanik won the votes, 134-46, to replace Cheney on Friday. Cheney was ousted from leadership on Wednesday.

She wrote in a statement, “I’m truly honored and humbled to earn the support of my colleagues to serve as House Republican Conference Chair. House Republicans are united in our focus to fight on behalf of the American people to save our country from the radical Socialist Democrat agenda of President Biden and Nancy Pelosi.”

She also thanked former President Donald Trump for his support of her bid for the post, calling him a “critical part of our Republican team.”
