Former President Donald Trump is celebrating a decision by Michigan’s Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, the Michigan Supreme Court declined to hear a challenge to Trump’s ability to be on the ballot for the 2024 election due to his actions ahead of the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

In a post on Truth Social, the former president wrote, “The Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, me, off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan.”

“This pathetic gambit to rig the Election has failed all across the Country, including in States that have historically leaned heavily toward the Democrats. Colorado is the only State to have fallen prey to the scheme. That 4-3 Colorado Supreme Court decision, which they themselves stayed, thus keeping me on the ballot as we go up to the U.S. Supreme Court, is being ridiculed and mocked all over the World,” he continued.

He went on to share unfounded claims about the 2020 election being stolen and the alleged need to stop the 2024 election from being stolen.

Finally, Trump added, “We have to save our Country from decline and the Radical Left. Make America Great Again!”

The Michigan Supreme Court let stand a ruling from a lower court that ruled state law allows parties to decide which candidates may appear on the ballot for a primary election.

The lawsuit focused on Section 3 of the 14th Amendment which prevents people who engaged in an insurrection after previously taking an oath to uphold the Constitution from holding office again.

However, Wednesday’s ruling does not prevent a similar legal challenge from being heard if Trump becomes the nominee.

The decision comes roughly a week after Colorado’s Supreme Court ruled Trump is ineligible to hold office again.

The ruling applies only to Colorado’s ballots and was paused until Jan. 4, the day before the state’s secretary of state has to certify candidates for the primary.

CBS News noted all the justices on the Colorado court were appointed by Democratic governors.

“We conclude that because President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Secretary to list President Trump as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot,” the majority’s opinion stated.

It added, “Therefore, the Secretary may not list President Trump’s name on the 2024 presidential primary ballot, nor may she count any write-in votes cast for him.”
