Taking a cue from the residents of Bikini Bottom. President Donald Trump mocked federal employees by posting a meme of SpongeBob Squarepants.
The meme was posted by Trump after an email was sent to federal employees asking them to write down what they had done in the past week, The Hill reported.
The meme shows SpongeBob Squarepants looking at a notepad with the heading “Got Done Last Week.”
The list includes “Cried about Trump,” “Cried about Elon,” “Made it into the office for once,” “Read some emails” and “Cried about Trump and Elon some more.”
Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), told federal employees to describe what they did the past week.
“Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump’s instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week,” Musk wrote on X Saturday.
“Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation,” Musk wrote.
“Please reply to this email with approx. 5 bullet points of what you accomplished last week and cc your manager. Please do not send any classified information, links or attachments,” per the email, according to The Hill. “Deadline is Monday at 11:59pmEST.”
At least one Democratic lawmaker took issue with the task.
Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.) criticized Musk over the message on social media.
“This is the ultimate d‑‑‑ boss move from Musk – except he isn’t even the boss, he’s just a d‑‑‑,” Smith posted on X.
“I bet a lot of people have had an experience like this with a bad boss – there’s an email in your inbox on Saturday night saying, ‘Prove to me your worthiness by Monday or else,’” Smith added in a second post. “I’m on the side of the workers, not the billionaire a‑‑hole bosses.”
