Both President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden will be faced with questions on Thursday night, but not at the same place.
The second presidential debate was initially scheduled for Oct. 15 but was cancelled after the decision to go virtual and push back from the Trump campaign over the format changes. The last of the debates ahead of the November election is still expected to occur on Oct. 22.
However, despite changes to the debate schedule, Trump will attend an NBC News town hall at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, while Biden will participate in an ABC News town hall at the same time.
The NBC News town hall with Trump will be hosted in Miami, Florida, and moderated by “TODAY” anchor Savannah Guthrie. Florida voters will attend the town hall.
Dr. Anthony Fauci and Clinical Director at the National Institutes of Health Dr. Clifford Lane have reviewed Trump’s medical data after he had been infected with COVID-19. Lane stated in a statement to NBC News that they both have “a high degree of confidence” that Trump is “not shedding infectious virus.”
Those at the town hall will follow social distancing guidelines and those in the audience will be required to wear a mask.
Biden’s town hall will be moderated by ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos in Philadelphia.
