As the U.S. government inches towards a shutdown, President Donald Trump turned to an AI video to make fun of two top Democratic leaders.
Trump posted the AI video on social media Monday night shortly after meeting with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), per Politico.
If a government shutdown wasn’t already exceedingly likely, President Donald Trump might have made it a near certainty Monday night.
The video shows the pair at a fake press conference with Schumer lamenting the state of affairs for Democrats as Jeffries stands by in a sombrero as mariachi music plays in the background.
“Nobody likes Democrats anymore. We have no voters left because of all of our woke, trans bulls—,” Schumer “said” in the video. “Not even Black people want to vote for us anymore.”
“Even Latinos hate us. So, we need new voters, and if we give all these illegal aliens free healthcare, we might be able to get them on our side so they can vote for us,” he “continued.”
Watch:
The healthcare comment appears to be in reference to a talking point made by GOP leaders, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) alluding that noting that the Democratics are demanding to reverse health care provisions — including provisions aimed at excluding noncitizens from public benefits.
Both Schumer and Jeffries took to X to post a response.
“Bigotry will get you nowhere. Cancel the Cuts. Lower the Cost. Save Healthcare. We are NOT backing down.”
He later posted a photo of Trump with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
He added, “This is real.”
“If you think your shutdown is a joke, it just proves what we all know: You can’t negotiate. You can only throw tantrums,” Schumer wrote.
A senior GOP aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said after viewing the video, “This might top the last shutdown.”
The 2018-2019 shutdown —when Trump was in charge — lasted a record 35 days.
