Hunter Biden and Ashley Biden will no longer receive protection by the Secret Service.
President Donald Trump made the announcement Monday with a post on social media.
“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!” Trump wrote.
He continued: “He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned. Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance. Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list.”

Former presidents and their spouses are afforded lifelong Secret Service protection. Members of the immediate family usually cease to have Secret Service protection when the president leaves office, per Politico.
However, it is not clear why the protection detail continued for Hunter, 54, and Ashley, 43, even though their father, former President Joe Biden, left the White House on Jan. 20.
A comment on the matter was not readily obtained by the White House, according to Politico.
Hunter Biden has long been in the spotlight through the years for all the wrong reasons.
He was convicted of gun and tax charges in 2024 and was seen was the recipient of anger and threats by Trump allies.
President Biden pardoned his only surviving son last year despite stating for months he would not pardon Hunter Biden.
