Former President Donald Trump claims the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan would have gone so smoothly if he was in charge, no one would notice.

In a statement on Thursday, Trump said, “First you bring out all of the American citizens. Then you bring out ALL equipment. Then you bomb the bases into smithereens—AND THEN YOU BRING OUT THE MILITARY. You don’t do it in reverse order like Biden and our woke Generals did.”

He added, “No chaos, no death—they wouldn’t even know we left!”

The statement comes as the U.S. is rushing to evacuate American citizens and Afghan allies after the Taliban took over the country.

In the days following the Taliban’s take over, images and videos surfaced of chaotic scenes at the Hamid Karzai International Airport as thousands of Afghans tried to flee the country.

The collapse of the Afghan government came as the U.S. withdrew its forces.

As of Wednesday, there were estimated to be as many as 15,000 Americans still in Aghanistan looking to leave the country. However, the Pentagon spokesperson told reporters on Thursday that he does not know how many Americans are still in Afghanistan.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters the U.S. would evacuate as many Americans as it “can,” but that there is not the capability to “go out and collect large numbers of people.”

President Joe Biden also told ABC News on Wednesday that U.S. troops will stay in Afghanistan until all Americans are evacuated, even if that means missing an Aug. 31 deadline.

Biden defended the execution of the withdrawal, suggesting that there was not a way to “have gotten out without chaos ensuing.”

“When you had the government of Afghanistan, the leader of that government, get in a plane and taking off and going to another country. When you saw the significant collapse of the Afghan troops we had trained…just leaving their equipment and taking off…that’s what happened,” he said.
