Former President Donald Trump is thinking outside of the box when it comes to picking his transition team.
Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard joins former Democrat and ex-independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Trump’s transition team, Politico reported.
The team is tasked with picking personnel and developing policy should Trump win a second term.
“As President Trump’s broad coalition of supporters and endorsers expands across partisan lines, we are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team,” Brian Hughes, Trump campaign senior adviser, said in a statement. “We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team [as] we work to restore America’s greatness.”
Gabbard posted about her endorsement of Trump on X, formerly Twitter, Monday.
Kennedy endorsed Trump after the independent candidate suspended his campaign, the IJR reported on.
Gabbard, a former congresswoman from Hawaii, left the Democratic Party in 2022. She appeared with Trump at a National Guard Association event in Detroit, Politico reported.
The transition team also includes co-chairs Linda McMahon, the founder and former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, and Howard Lutnick, the CEO of the Wall Street firm Cantor Fitzgerald.
Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), Trump’s running mate, is an honorary chair, as well as Trump’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
