sRep. Val Demings (D-Fla.) previously voiced her opposition to walls while living behind one in a gated community, according to a report.
In 2018 Demings tweeted, “As of today, the Berlin Wall has been gone for as long as it stood. The wall separated those who were free from those who were not. Let’s tear down all of the walls that still separate us from one another.”

Additionally, Demings voiced her opposition to former President Donald Trump’s border wall.
“Leaving aside the fact that the wall is an absurd waste of money and a violation of our values as a nation of immigrants, it is totally corrupt and inappropriate for the President to try to override the U.S. Army to give government business to one of his party’s donors,” Demings tweeted.

However, Fox News reported Demings lives in an upscale gated community called Phillips Landing.
The outlet noted the community includes walls separating itself from others.
Property listings reportedly range between $780,000 and over $1.2 million.
Additionally, Fox News pointed out residents are required to show their ID to enter the community.
Demings is currently running against Republican incumbent Marco Rubio for Florida’s Senate seat.
On Tuesday, The Hill reported Demings in a new campaign ad sought to distance herself from rhetoric from her own party on “defunding” the police.
“I learned as a police officer you stand up for what’s right, no matter what — that’s how you put the bad guys away and keep Florida safe,” she said.
Demings continued, “In Congress, I did the same. I stood up to those in my party who wanted to defund the police. I was one of a few Democrats who voted to make sure violent criminals go to jail and stay there.”
Recent polling shows Rubio holding a lead over Demings 47% to 41%.
