CNN’s Van Jones is likening the atmosphere of the Republican National Convention
On Thursday, Jones noted conservative commentator Scott Jennings’ excitement while talking about the convention.
“This spirit that this guy has, you guys think that’s ‘cause he’s drunk, he’s not,” Jones said.
He went on, “The whole thing is like this.”
“The last time I was in a convention that felt like this was Obama 2008,” Jones added.

Jennings interjected, “And just like Obama, Trump is showing at this convention, he has the capacity to alter the composition of the electorate.”
His comment echoes a sentiment that has been heard throughout the convention about the mood of the attendees and the speakers.
CNN’s Phil Mattingly later said, “This is something that I just haven’t seen in several cycles, and the delegates keep saying the same thing….the energy level is just different.”
The upbeat mood at the convention comes as RealClearPolitics’ average of polls shows Trump leading by three points nationally, and he is leading in seven key battleground states.
