A co-host of ABC’s “The View” is facing mockery over her assessment of who can be a white supremacist.
During a segment on Monday, co-host Ana Navarro said, “We all have to remember that the head of the Proud Boys, his name is Enrique Tarrio. The Proud Boys is a white nationalist group.”
“Look, being Hispanic or being Black — or being anything — does not make you immune from being racist, from being radicalized, from being a white supremacist, from being evil, from being homicidal, and we are seeing it over and over again,” she continued.
Navarro added, “There are people, you know, they don’t see themselves as what they are.”

A report from the Justice Department described the Proud Boys as a “nationalist organization.”
It added the group describes itself as a “pro-Western fraternal organization for men who refuse to apologize for creating the modern world; aka Western Chauvinists.”
Enrique Tarrio, a Cuban-American, was formerly the leader of the Proud Boys.
Conservative Twitter users mocked Navarro’s assertion:

Navarro’s comments come after a gunman killed eight people in a Dallas-area mall.
Law enforcement officials are examining whether the suspect, identified as Mauricio Garcia, had an interest in white supremacist ideology.
The Associated Press notes, officials were looking at social media accounts they believe belonged to the suspect that had shared “posts that expressed interest in white supremacist and neo-Nazi views.”
