A co-host of ABC’s “The View” is disputing the notion the Republican Party is the party of Abraham Lincoln.
During a segment Thursday, co-host Ana Navarro said, “The Republican Party is the party of Abraham Lincoln.”
“Abraham Lincoln eradicated slavery,” she added.
However, Sunny Hostin interjected, “Well, it changed a little.”
Navarro pressed on:
“There are states… let me finish this. There are states in America right now — including my state of Florida — where they are trying to find a positive point of view on slavery and white-washing Black history, that is not a conservative value. Trying to take aid away from Ukraine and abandon Ukraine, that is not a traditional conservative value.”

Navarro’s comment appeared to be a reference to Florida’s new African American history standards that teach slaves “developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”
An Advanced Placement (AP) course in African American studies, which was rejected by Florida, included the same lesson.
However, Hostin replied, “I can’t let Republicans hide behind the party of Abraham Lincoln, OK?”
“Because the Republican Party hasn’t been the party of Abraham Lincoln since Jim Crow, since Reconstruction, since forever. So let’s not twist history around,” she added.
