Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz is using the Left’s favorite boogeyman of Project 2025 to attack former President Donald Trump.

During his energetic speech accepting his party’s nomination, Walz claimed that Trump and Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance will use Project 2025 to guide their policy and staffing choices if they are elected.

“Their Project 2025 will make things much, much harder for people who are just trying to live their lives. They spend a lot of time pretending they know nothing about this,” he said.

Walz added, “But, look, I coached high school football long enough to know — and trust me on this — when somebody takes the time to draw up a playbook, they’re going to use it.”

Walz asserted Trump would repeal the Affordable Care Act, “gut Social Security and Medicare,” and he claimed, “They will ban abortion across this country with or without Congress.”

The Washington Post explains that Project 2025 was “a collaboration led by the Heritage Foundation among more than 110 conservative groups to develop a movement consensus blueprint for the next Republican administration.”

“The Heritage Foundation also recently distributed new talking points encouraging participants to emphasize that the project does not speak for Trump,” the Post added.

However, the Trump campaign tried to distance itself and publicly celebrated when the initiative was shut down, saying in a statement, “President Trump’s campaign has been very clear for over that Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign, did not speak for the campaign, and should not be associated with the campaign or the President in any way.”

“Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign — it will not end well for you,” it added.
