Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was unbothered by protestors donned in pink attire, during his confirmation hearing before the Senate on Wednesday.
Rubio was selected by President-elect Donald Trump to head the Department of State in his next administration and is well known for his tough stance against China and other foreign adversaries.
In a video of the hearing, a female protestor was heard yelling in Spanish, before being removed by Capitol police.
“I get bilingual protestors,” Rubio quipped in response.
Another woman can then be heard yelling, “Healthcare is a human right, education is a human right,” before also being escorted out by law enforcement.
The berating from the protestors didn’t stop there, as Rubio was repeatedly interrupted during his address.
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) told Newsmax there is no one more qualified for the position than Rubio.
“There’s few people on Capitol Hill, with as much foreign policy depth of knowledge than Marco Rubio,” Donalds said, “He and President Trump have a great relationship, this is very different from 2016 … Donald Trump has had an opportunity to actually be away from the White House, away from the presidency, so these picks are not just who is in front of him, this has been well thought out for quite some time.”
Donalds added that everyone who has put their name forward to work for the Trump administration knows how Trump operates, and that he wants results quickly.
“The people signing up for these jobs, like Marco, like Pam Bondi, they know who Donald Trump is,” Donalds said, “He’s no nonsense, he has an agenda, if you’re not getting the job done to his specifications, you’re out of there. Let’s everybody get on the same page, they know this. So, I think for Marco, he’s going to do a great job, he’s gonna be around for a while.”
