Former President Donald Trump shared why he plays the “gay national anthem” at Mar-A-Lago.
During an episode of the “Full Send Podcast” on Wednesday, Trump told the hosts “Y.M.C.A.” gets “em rocking” at his resort.
He added, “‘Y.M.C.A.,’ the gay national anthem. Did you ever hear that? They call it the gay national anthem. But ‘Y.M.C.A.’ gets people up, and it gets ‘em moving. But we have a lot of good selections and people love it when I do it.”

Earlier this month, The New York Times’ Maggie Haberman posted a note sent to members of Trump’s resort about the former president playing the role of disk jockey.
“The music will be amazing, it will be lots of fun, and will go until the late evening. For those who will be unable to be seated, the bar will be open for drinks,” the note reads.
Trump previously used the song at his rallies and farewell event at Joint Base Andrews in January 2021. The Village People issued a statement expressing their disapproval of Trump using their song.
“We have no ill will towards the president, but we asked him to cease and desist long ago,” the group said in a statement.
They added, “However, since he’s a bully, our request was ignored. Thankfully he’s now out of office, so it would seem his abusive use of our music has finally ended. We hope to spearhead a change in copyright law that will give artists and publishers more control over who can and cannot use our music in the public space. Currently there is no limit to blanket licensing.”
Billboard noted Trump has been sued by artists who object to his use of their music during rallies.
