West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R) is warning people who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 that they are taking a risk with their lives.
“When you turn your back and say ‘Nope I’m not doing that,’ all you’re doing is entering the death drawing,” Justice said on Thursday.
He continued, “If I knew for certain that there was going to be eight or nine [people dying] by next Tuesday, and I could be one of them if I don’t take the vaccine. What in the world do you think I would do? I mean, I would run over top of somebody cause I don’t want to take the chance when the wheel spins… that it could come up Jim Justice. I don’t want to take that chance.”

His comments come as the U.S. is expected to miss President Joe Biden’s goal of getting at least one dose of the vaccine to 70% of adults by July 4.
Additionally, while Justice warned that people who do not get vaccinated are taking a risk with their lives, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Rochelle Walensky says that every coronavirus death is “preventable” because of the vaccines.
“Covid-19 vaccines are available for everyone ages 12 and up,” Walensky said Tuesday. “They are nearly 100% effective against severe disease and death — meaning nearly every death due to Covid-19 is particularly tragic, because nearly every death, especially among adults, due to Covid-19 is at this point entirely preventable.”
