The White House is firing back after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) did not rule out impeaching the president again to prevent him from filling the new vacancy on the Supreme Court ahead of the election.

Pelosi said on Sunday that Congressional Democrats have options in the event that President Donald Trump moves to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court that opened up in the wake of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death.

White House Deputy Press Secretary Brian Morgenstern told Fox News, “The Speaker threatened to impeach the President—again—for simply fulfilling his constitutional obligation.”

“Numerous Democrats are threatening to pack the court and say things like ‘nothing is off the table.’ These are bizarre and dangerous power grabs by Democrats who will stop at nothing to erode the Constitution to enact their radical agenda,” he continued.

Finally, he said, “President Trump will fulfill his constitutional duty to protect our God-given rights and do his part to fill the seat.”

Morgenstern’s comments come hours after Pelosi indicated that House Democrats might take action if Trump moved to fill Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court before the election.

During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday, Pelosi said, “We have our options; we have arrows in our quiver that I’m not about to discuss right now.”

“We have our options. She added, “We have a responsibility to meet the needs of the American people. When we weigh the equities of protecting our democracy, requires us to use every arrow in our quiver.”

Her comments come as Trump has indicated he would nominate someone to fill Ginsburg’s seat this week.

Ginsburg’s granddaughter, Clara Spera, released a statement on Friday that said her grandmother’s “most fervent wish” was that “I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Trump was impeached on for obstruction of Congress and abuse of power in December, 2019.
