Deputy White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says President Joe Biden plans to run for reelection in 2024 with Vice President Kamala Harris on the ticket.
ABC News’ Mary Bruce noted on Thursday that during an interview with The Wall Street, Harris did not say if she assumes Biden will run in 2024.
She noted that Biden has said he plans to run again and asked, “What’s the disconnect here?”
“I mean, I can’t speak to a conversation that the vice president and the president has; I could only say what — and reiterate what Jen [Psaki] has said and what the president has said himself: that he is planning to run for reelection in 2024. I don’t have any more to add,” Jean-Pierre responded.
Bruce asked, “But just to be clear, when the president says he plans to run again, he means with Harris on the ticket?”
“Yes. He does. There’s no change. Yes. Yes,” Jean-Pierre responded.

During an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Harris said she would not talk about her conversations with Biden.
However, she said, “I will tell you this without any ambiguity: We do not talk about nor have we talked about reelection, because we haven’t completed our first year, and we’re in the middle of a pandemic.”
When asked if she assumes Biden will run in 2024, the vice president responded, “I’ll be very honest: I don’t think about it, nor have we talked about it.”
Harris previously said she has not spoken to Biden about 2024, as IJR reported.
In November, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told reporters that Biden’s “intention” is to run for reelection in 2024.
And in March, Biden, who would be 81 in 2024, told reporters, “My plan is to run for reelection. That’s my expectation.”
