There’s a certain cosmic justice that hits different when it comes wrapped in irony, rolls down a slight incline, and smacks into a curb while its screeching owner is mid-tantrum about “fascism.”

This Sunday, as if on cue from the heavens or maybe just from the Department of Common Sense, an anti-ICE protester managed to gift us the kind of comedy you can’t script. There she was—righteously outraged, voice cracking as she wailed about the horrors of a nation daring to enforce immigration law—and just behind her, her own car began its slow, glorious act of rebellion.

Because she forgot to put it in park.

Yes, while yelling at federal officers about “illegal arrests,” she literally walked away from her still-running, unparked vehicle like some kind of fever-dream version of Greta Thunberg with a driver’s license. The car, perhaps overwhelmed with shame, decided it had seen enough and slowly rolled away. Not down a mountain. Not into traffic. Just enough of a drift to let the world know: “I want no part of this.”

We’re told not to take joy in the misfortune of others. But I’ll be honest—when that misfortune comes as a direct result of smug, sanctimonious outrage colliding with reality? Yeah, I’m gonna chuckle. Just a little. Okay, a lot.

Now let me be clear: I don’t want anyone hurt. I’m not out here rooting for tragedy. At worst, maybe I’d like to see a protester trip over their own megaphone cable and take a few seconds to think about their life choices. But when karma shows up in the form of a runaway Prius while its owner screams about ICE being “the Gestapo,” I’m not going to sit on my hands and pretend it’s not funny.

This is what happens when emotion outpaces logic, when performative rage replaces actual knowledge. It’s not just that she forgot to put her car in park—it’s that she did it while trying to yell at professionals doing their jobs. She was so focused on the narrative, so blinded by the theater of victimhood, that she literally forgot how physics works.

This is where we are. We’re at a point where outrage is so baked into certain people’s daily diet, they forget how to operate machinery. Where ICE agents enforcing the law are treated like villains, and grown adults think that screaming on camera somehow absolves them of basic responsibility.

And honestly? The car might’ve been the smartest thing at the protest.

Maybe it just couldn’t take the screeching anymore. Maybe it looked around and realized its owner was about to livestream another misguided rant and thought, “Nope, I’m out.” Can we really blame it?

So, no, this isn’t a hard-hitting exposé or a political deep-dive. It’s just a small, blessed reminder that while the world can be chaotic and absurd, sometimes it delivers a tiny gift wrapped in schadenfreude. A protester. A camera. A forgotten parking brake. A gentle lesson in humility.

And all of it caught on tape.

Thank you, anonymous protester. You may not have stopped ICE, but you certainly parked yourself in internet history.
