Justine Henin-Hardenne defeated Mary Pierce in the final, 6–1, 6–1 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2005 French Open. It was her second French Open title and fourth major title overall. Henin was the second woman in the Open Era to win the title after saving a match point, doing so in the fourth round against Svetlana Kuznetsova.
