Alchemist fue una banda de metal progresivo australiana de Canberra que combinó influencias de death metal, rock progresivo, psicodelia, oriental, aborigen y electrónica. Historia 1987−1992 Alchemist se formó en 1987 por Adam Agius (voz principal/guitarra) como un acto de death metal. La banda lanzó un demo el mismo año titulado "Eternal Wedlock". El estilo de la banda era crudo y sin desarrollar, y comenzó a evolucionar con la incorporación del nuevo baterista Rodney Holder en 1989. Al año siguiente, la alineación de Agius, Holder, Andrew Meredith (guitarra) y James Preece (bajo) grabó un segundo demo.
