Apocrypha son escritos bíblicos o relacionados que no forman parte del canon aceptado de las escrituras, algunos de los cuales podrían ser de autoría dudosa o autenticidad. En el cristianismo, la palabra apócrifo (ἀπόκρυφος) se aplicó primero a escritos que debían leerse en privado en lugar de en el contexto público de los servicios de la iglesia. Apocrypha eran obras cristianas edificantes que no siempre se incluían inicialmente como escrituras canónicas.
