Bridget Shelton Bade

Bridget Anne Shelton Bade (born October 8, 1965) is an American lawyer and jurist from Arizona. She is a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She was formerly a United States magistrate judge of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. Early life and career Bade earned her Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the Arizona State University in 1987, and her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from its Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law in 1989. She served as an articles editor of the Arizona State Law Journal. After graduating from law school, Bade clerked for Judge Edith Jones of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from 1990 to 1991. Bade served for four years as a trial attorney in the Environmental Torts Section of the United States Department of Justice Civil Division from 1991 to 1995. She was later a shareholder at Beshears Wallwork Bellamy in Phoenix, Arizona, where her practice focused on civil litigation. Bade then spent a year as special counsel in the Phoenix, Arizona office of Steptoe & Johnson. Following her years in private practice, Bade was an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Arizona for six years from 2006 to 2012.
