11 Dead, Six Missing in Caucasus Avalanche
An avalanche on Mount Mizhirgi in Kabardino-Balkaria killed at least 11 climbers, with six missing and several injured among a group of 33, as rescuers faced rugged terrain and ongoing avalanche risk. Authorities said weather and terrain hampered operations, but Mi-8 and commercial helicopters would be deployed to reinforce the search once conditions improve and investigators are examining possible negligence.
