Dan Humphrey

Daniel Randolph Humphrey is a fictional character from the Gossip Girl franchise. He is one of the core male characters in Gossip Girl, played by American actor Penn Badgley. The character comes from an artistic and musically-inclined family. His father in the show, Rufus Humphrey, is an aspiring rock musician; his mother in the show, Alison Humphrey, is an artist; and he has a younger sister in the show, Jenny Humphrey. However, his mother, who is a recurring character in the series, left her family when Dan was young, leaving him with a deep sense of abandonment and distrust. Dan and his family live in Brooklyn, the alternative to the old-money and conservative Upper East Side. The character pursued his education at St. Jude's Preparatory School on the West side as a scholarship student. Dan Humphrey is regarded as being charismatic and attractive, due to his good looks, charm, and wit. He is portrayed as an incredibly talented individual who shows an interest in poetry. The character and his sister Jenny share a close bond, which is evident in his dedication to her schooling and his protectiveness of her.
